Meet Arjan Meijer


I'm Arjan Meijer, a former natural bodybuilding competitor with a passion for high-intensity training the Mike Mentzer way. My fitness journey began in the late 1980s, when I was a 19-year-old, 5'11" and 148-pound skinny guy determined to transform my body.

The first few years of my training journey were rooted in high-intensity, high-volume workouts - a challenging combination, but one that worked well enough in those early days. Everything changed in 1992 when I discovered the high-intensity, low-volume training championed by Dorian Yates. This marked a turning point in my understanding of hypertrophy. The fusion of high intensity and low volume unlocked dramatic muscle growth, a method I continued to refine throughout my competitive natural bodybuilding career, embracing the legendary "Blood and Guts" style.

In the 2000s, my perspective evolved further when I came across Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty philosophy. This method took the concept of low-volume, high-intensity training to the next level, reshaping my approach once again. By this time, I had already gained 44 pounds of muscle, yet I found myself making new progress with this innovative approach.

Today, at 54 years old and after 35 years of training, I'm proud to say that I'm still gaining muscle - albeit more slowly - but the journey continues. My passion for learning and experimenting remains stronger than ever. Over the past year, I've been exploring the power of lengthened partials with exceptional results, leading me to author my book, go to Unlock Your Potential With Lengthened Partials by Arjan Meijer
